{"id":969500,"date":"2026-07-30T17:44:19","date_gmt":"2026-07-30T17:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/969500\/"},"modified":"2026-07-30T17:44:19","modified_gmt":"2026-07-30T17:44:19","slug":"records-sapd-officer-suspended-after-looking-up-police-reports-involving-girlfriend-her-ex-husband","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/969500\/","title":{"rendered":"Records: SAPD officer suspended after looking up police reports involving girlfriend, her ex-husband"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 A San Antonio police officer was suspended for five days after disciplinary records show he used his position to look up police reports involving his girlfriend and her ex-husband. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Officer Christopher Cardiel called 911 on Dec. 1, 2025, to report that he had been assaulted by his girlfriend\u2019s ex-husband, records state. <\/p>\n<p>KSAT Investigates<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 bTVksG\">Hard-hitting journalism from the KSAT Investigates team delivered straight to your inbox.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">SAPD officers spoke with the ex-husband, who said that Cardiel told him, \u201cI know everything about you because of what I do.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The ex-husband, who is not identified in the disciplinary report, was arrested for assault bodily injury, documents said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">An audit revealed that Cardiel looked at three police reports involving his girlfriend and her ex-husband despite having \u201cno official department business with the calls,\u201d records show. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Police obtained texts between Cardiel and the ex-husband, which included several harassing messages from Cardiel. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Suspension records show that the texts were allegedly shared with the ex-husband\u2019s attorney. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">\u201cThe actions of Officer Cardiel did not conform to the ordinary and reasonable rules of good conduct and behavior,\u201d the suspension records said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">City records show Cardiel has been with SAPD since October 2022.
