New York City on Thursday unveiled a new interactive tool that allows residents to track the city\u2019s pipeline of affordable housing projects planned for publicly owned land.<\/p>\n
The Land Inventory Fast Track, or LIFT, Tracker<\/a> highlights over 100 city-owned sites across the five boroughs where the Mamdani administration says more than 50,000 new homes will be built.<\/p>\n Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the map is intended to give New Yorkers a way to monitor the city\u2019s progress on the projects while increasing transparency.<\/p>\n \u201cToo many New Yorkers are being priced out of their homes. We have a responsibility to use every tool we have to build the affordable housing our city needs,\u201d Mamdani said in a statement. \u201cThe LIFT tracker brings transparency to that work and makes clear that City-owned land is not sitting idle \u2014 it is becoming homes, libraries and community space across the five boroughs.\u201d<\/p>\n He pledged to continue issuing requests for proposals for at least five city-owned housing sites each year as mayor as part of his “Block by Block” housing plan<\/a>, which aims to build 200,000 affordable homes and preserve another 200,000 over the next decade.<\/p>\n Since taking office, Mamdani has launched several initiatives intended to speed up affordable housing development on public land, including the Land Inventory Fast Track Task Force and a streamlined land use review process, according to his office.<\/p>\n
