\nThe San Diego Regional Fire Foundation gave grants totaling $276,000 to 30 Fire Safe Councils along with East County Magazine for wildfire prevention and preparedness, including to provide community education to help community members make their neighborhoods safer. San Diego\u2019s 50 Fire Safe Councils are community-led, volunteer-based groups \u00a0that work to protect homes and communities from wildfires. The councils support their communities through activities ranging from fire-hardening homes and removing flammable plantings to hosting vegetation and chipping events, installing reflective address signs and educating neighbors in emergency preparedness.
