The survey<\/a> of 135 district and charter school principals by the nonprofit Elevate 215 showed that nearly two-thirds (64%) of principals believed schools were moving in the right direction.<\/p>\nScott Gaiber, the nonprofit\u2019s Deputy Chief of Talent Initiatives, said when it came to incentive to keep principals in their jobs, support for their school was the top priority.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe number one thing was the funding \u2014 more funding for schools,\u201d said Gaiber. \u201cNumber two was salary, which was interesting. They see funding and their ability to be effective as more important than their own money in their pocket.\u201d<\/p>\n
Most charter principals \u2014 80% \u2014 were satisfied with funding, supplies and support staff, but only 23% of district principals felt the same.<\/p>\n
The survey results were presented to the Citywide Talent Coalition, a group of more than 50 organizations working to strengthen the education workforce.<\/p>\n
