{"id":970803,"date":"2026-07-31T07:31:17","date_gmt":"2026-07-31T07:31:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/970803\/"},"modified":"2026-07-31T07:31:17","modified_gmt":"2026-07-31T07:31:17","slug":"judge-denies-bond-for-now-for-el-salvador-teen-accused-in-2-houston-murders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/970803\/","title":{"rendered":"Judge denies bond for now for El Salvador teen accused in 2 Houston murders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\"><strong>HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 Bond has been denied for now on a second murder charge for an El Salvador teen accused of killing two different young people about eight months apart. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Judge Hazel Jones on Thursday denied bond for Jefferson Velasquez, an 18-year-old from El Salvador just charged with a new murder this week for the April fatal shooting of 27-year-old Noah Ramirez outside Diosa, a Midtown nightclub.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Houston Police investigated the April shooting, but Velasquez had been in custody since June, when he was arrested and charged in a Harris County Sheriff\u2019s Office murder case involving the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Angel Garcia at an August 2025 large house party in East Harris County.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 etvbxt font_openSans articleList\">\n<li class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Stack-vJ7SwH7U__StackBase-sc-1m5bkhd-0 evEXvX dsnUCb\"\/><\/ul>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">During his court appearance Thursday, Velasquez appeared to smirk at people he knew in the courtroom. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">It\u2019s not clear exactly what evidence investigators have tying Velasquez to the two shootings, although both happened during what police described as fights at large gatherings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The Harris County District Attorney\u2019s Office said a hearing has now been set for Aug. 10, when prosecutors plan to argue to hold Velasquez in jail indefinitely pending trial.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">An appointed defense attorney representing Velasquez told KPRC 2 News on Wednesday he\u2019s not commenting on the new murder case and is still waiting on evidence to be shared by prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Records show Velasquez has an ICE hold.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Anyone who recognizes Velasquez as a possible robbery or assault suspect is urged to contact law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211;
