DES MOINES, Iowa \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n The Teamsters Local 90 announced that UnityPoint Des Moines nurses voted to unionize, but UnityPoint Health disputes the election results, citing serious objections that require further review. <\/p>\n On its website and social media, the union stated, “It’s official: we won! As of July 30 the NLRB just confirmed it, UnityPoint Des Moines nurses voted union.”<\/p>\n Video from a nurses’ rally in June highlights the ongoing efforts to unionize. Last week, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders sent a letter to UnityPoint<\/a> urging the health care provider to recognize the Iowa nurses who voted to unionize last year. Sanders accused UnityPoint of “illegal union-busting tactics.” <\/p>\n In response, UnityPoint Health issued a statement saying, “The National Labor Relations Board has not decided the outcome of the election.
