Casper Ruud is among many high-profile Wimbledon withdrawals this year, with the Norwegian sidelined with a knee injury.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ruud withdrew from the Mallorca Open<\/a> due to the issue, but planned to make it back in time for Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Those plans have since been abandoned, with Ruud experiencing knee pain for the entire clay season<\/a> of 2025.<\/p>\n

Ruud<\/a> last played at the French Open last month, where he beat Albert Ramos-Vinolas before falling to Nuno Borges in round two.<\/p>\n

And it now remains to be seen when the player will be able to return to action, with Ruud currently occupying 15th place in the ATP<\/a> rankings.<\/p>\n

He clinched his 13th career title in Madrid earlier this season, but a second success of 2025 at Wimbledon is now off the cards.<\/p>\n

Reacting to his withdrawal, former world number one Andy Roddick<\/a> said on the Tennis Channel Live Podcast: \u201cIt\u2019s not surprising if I\u2019m Casper Ruud\u2019s coach and watching how he finished that match at Roland Garros against Borges which, by the way, he shouldn\u2019t have played the last set, and props to him for actually toughing it out and being the person that\u2026 There\u2019s no decision here.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf your knee is not 100%, you don\u2019t go to a surface that your upside is second or third round, and risk further injury, especially when it\u2019s slipping, right?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen your movement isn\u2019t native to the surface, this is a no-brainer. He should just, you know, move on and get ready for either the after Wimbledon clay and\/or the US hard court circuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not surprising. He says he\u2019s hitting again, so this is the least concerning decision, right? This is a decision I think he has to make.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Casper Ruud\u2019s Grand Slam finals record after Wimbledon withdrawal<\/p>\n

Ruud has enjoyed a superb career on the ATP Tour, with the Norwegian having once reached number two in the world rankings.<\/p>\n

But he has also suffered plenty of heartache along the way, primarily in the form of three defeats from his three Grand Slam finals.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately he came up against huge talents on all three occasions, losing to Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic.<\/p>\n

Casper Ruud Grand Slam finals<\/p>\n

All but one of his 13 ATP titles have arrived on clay, with the other coming on the outdoor hard courts of San Diego.<\/p>\n
