{"id":973858,"date":"2026-08-01T16:39:22","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T16:39:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/973858\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T16:39:22","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T16:39:22","slug":"wrong-way-driver-dies-hours-after-crash-on-south-side-police-say","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/973858\/","title":{"rendered":"Wrong-way driver dies hours after crash on South Side, police say"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\"><strong>SAN ANTONIO<\/strong> \u2013 A man is dead after a wrong-way crash on the South Side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Around 8:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to the crash in the 5200 block of Roosevelt Avenue, near Loop 410. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The man was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Roosevelt Avenue when a second vehicle traveling southbound approached, according to a preliminary report. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Both drivers switched lanes simultaneously to avoid each other but moved into the same lane, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The man, identified in the report as Luis Martinez, 63, was initially reported to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
