The <a href=\"https:\/\/historicfortworth.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">2026 Cantey Lecture and Preservation Awards<\/a> will be at The Woman\u2019s Club of Fort Worth, 1316 Pennsylvania Ave. Brad Patterson, chief preservation officer and deputy director of the Texas Historical Commission is the lecturer. The city will have a table at the event to interview attendees and learn how they feel about preservation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Community members interested in attending the workshops can send an email to <a href=\"https:\/\/fortworthreport.org\/2026\/08\/01\/fort-worth-begins-update-to-the-citys-2003-historic-preservation-plan\/mailto:DesignReview@fortworthtexas.gov\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">DesignReview@fortworthtexas.gov<\/a> for updates and invitations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are very excited to begin the update,\u201d Lorelei Willett, the city\u2019s historic preservation officer, told members of Fort Worth\u2019s Historic and Cultural Landmarks Commission during their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rq_UNHNdK9w\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">meeting July 13<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Participants in the plan update will be invited to share thoughts on historic preservation in Fort Worth. The city will share information about historic preservation in general, past efforts and how Fort Worth\u2019s accomplishments and plans compare to other those of other cities.<\/p>\n<p>In another announcement, the Historic Handley neighborhood will participate in the <a href=\"https:\/\/thc.texas.gov\/preserve\/tourism-and-economic-development\/first-street-initiative\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Historical Commission\u2019s First Street Initiative,<\/a> Willett said.
