HARRISON,\u00a0N.J.\u00a0(Aug. 1, 2026)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0Orlando City SC (6-9-2, 20 points)<\/strong>\u00a0fell\u00a03-2 to\u00a0Red Bull New York (6-7-4, 22 points)\u00a0in\u00a0the club\u2019s visit to\u00a0Sports Illustrated Stadium on Saturday night. <\/p>\n

The Lions nearly opened the scoring early after\u00a0Eduard Atuesta\u00a0struck the crossbar in the 13th minute, but\u00a0the Red Bulls\u00a0responded by taking\u00a0a two-goal lead via goals from Mijahir Jim\u00e9nez and Emil Forsberg in the\u00a023rd and 43rd minutes, respectively. Antoine Griezmann, in his third MLS match with Orlando,\u00a0nearly\u00a0pulled one back in\u00a0first-half stoppage time,\u00a0striking a direct free kick from the corner of the box just inches wide from the far post. <\/p>\n

Halftime\u00a0substitute\u00a0Tyrese Spicer\u00a0cut the deficit in half after\u00a0a\u00a0Griezmann corner\u00a0kick to the near post\u00a0was headed\u00a0across goal\u00a0by Griffin Dorsey\u00a0to Braian Ojeda, who in turn headed it back in for Spicer to finish\u00a0off the play and make it 2-1 just seven minutes after the restart. <\/p>\n

Jim\u00e9nez\u00a0doubled his tally on the night at the hour mark with a composed\u00a0finish inside the box on a\u00a0diagonal ball\u00a0from Cade Cowell. <\/p>\n

Orlando City responded just three minutes later\u00a0as Robin Jansonn pinged a long ball to Spicer in the box and the\u00a0winger played a low ball across the goal that an on-rushing Dorsey finished at the far post. Despite several chances in the final minutes\u00a0of the match, the visitors were unable to\u00a0complete\u00a0the\u00a0rally and rescue any points from the match. <\/p>\n

The Lions\u2019 attention now turns to Leagues Cup 2026, as they\u00a0return to Central Florida to take on Liga MX\u2019s C.F. Monterrey\u00a0in a Phase One\u00a0matchup\u00a0at\u00a0Inter.co Stadium this Wednesday, Aug. 5.\u00a0(7:30 p.m. ET | Apple\u00a0TV)<\/p>\n
