{"id":977071,"date":"2026-08-03T04:00:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T04:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/977071\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T04:00:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T04:00:45","slug":"what-to-know-about-teslas-gold-cybercabs-in-dallas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/977071\/","title":{"rendered":"What to know about Tesla&#8217;s gold Cybercabs in Dallas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In April, Tesla\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/transportation\/article\/tesla-s-robotaxis-hit-dallas-not-south-i-30-22225187.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">autonomous vehicle<\/a> service launched in Dallas, officially marking North Texas\u2019 first spot on the robotaxi\u2019s list.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to a third party website called <a href=\"https:\/\/robotaxitracker.com\/map?area=dallas&amp;provider=tesla\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Robotaxi Tracker<\/a>, Tesla currently covers 31 square miles of Dallas, 17 miles less than Waymo.<\/p>\n<p>Dallasites have been spotting the new cars throughout the city and have asked, \u201cWhat are these gold Teslas?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Known as a Cybercab, the autonomous vehicle is another effort by the company to \u201cradically change transportation as we know it,\u201d said senior design executive Franz von Holzhausen in a first look <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=5jqJM7-tC0k\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">video<\/a>. The commercial cabs are being tested and mapped throughout the city and will operate under Tesla\u2019s\u00a0Robotaxi ridehailing app.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A fleet of Tesla Model Y vehicles serves the city on the Robotaxi app. If a Dallasite orders a ride, they will not yet receive one of the gold cars. This fleet operates in parts of the following neighborhoods:<\/p>\n<p>Prices vary depending on time and location and are subject to change, according to the company\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tesla.com\/support\/robotaxi\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>. The hours of operation for Robotaxi in Dallas are 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The Cybercab, which is still being developed, features no steering wheel, rearview windows or back windshield, and is intentionally designed to seat one to two passengers. According to a 2024\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/journals.sagepub.com\/doi\/10.1177\/03611981241277754\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">study<\/a> about ride-hail party sizes, 83% of rides consisted of one to two passengers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Seen as an alternative to public transportation, Tesla\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/autos\/2024\/10\/11\/elon-musk-and-tesla-debut-robotaxi-cybercab\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cybercabs<\/a> are seeking to be a solution for different types of commuters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt allows people who don\u2019t necessarily have access to public transportation to get from A to B, to go to places they maybe couldn\u2019t afford or where transportation wouldn\u2019t take them,\u201d von Holzhausen said in the video.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The distinct color allows the public to distinguish between a privately owned vehicle and the autonomous vehicle.
