\n\tA \u201cWarhammer 40,000\u201d animated event series is in development from Amazon MGM Studios<\/a>, Blur Studios, and Games Workshop, Variety has learned exclusively. <\/p>\n

\n\tIn addition, Henry Cavill<\/a> \u2014 who is attached to lead a live-action \u201cWarhammer 40,000\u201d series<\/a> currently in development at Amazon \u2014 will executive produce the animated series as well. It is being developed alongside the live-action project. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe animated project will serve as a spinoff of the Amazon animated anthology series \u201cSecret Level,\u201d which featured a \u201cWarhammer 40,000\u201d episode when it debuted in late 2024. Blur Studios produced \u201cSecret Level,\u201d while Games Workshop is the manufacturer behind the tabletop miniature wargame. <\/p>\n

\n\tDave Wilson, who directed the \u201cWarhammer 40,000\u201d episode of \u201cSecret Level\u201d and served as the show\u2019s supervising director, is the co-creator and director of the new animated series. He is developing it alongside John Orloff (\u201cMasters of the Air,\u201d \u201cBand of Brothers\u201d). <\/p>\n

\n\tExact plot details are under wraps, aside from the fact the series will feature The Deathwatch, an elite group of Space Marines that specialize in hunting down alien threats. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSecret Level\u201d creator Tim Miller will executive produce alongside Wilson for Blur Studios, with Cavill and Natalie Viscuso also executive producing. Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment executive produces with Andy Smillie from Games Workshop. The series is being developed in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios and Games Workshop<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201c\u2019Secret Level\u2019 wasn\u2019t conceived simply as an anthology. It was designed as a launchpad for larger stories,\u201d said Wilson. \u201cThe response to the \u2018Warhammer\u2019 episode was extraordinary, particularly from fans who understood how much care went into getting the world right. This series gives us the opportunity to build on that foundation and tell a much larger story. I\u2019ve wanted to tell a long-form story set in \u2018Warhammer 40,000\u2019 for more than twenty years, and I\u2019m incredibly grateful to Games Workshop and Amazon MGM Studios for the opportunity to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThis is the latest announcement of an Amazon project based on game IP. In addition to \u201cSecret Level,\u201d Prime Video currently airs the popular series adaptation of the \u201cFallout\u201d video games, while the streamer is currently prepping a \u201cTomb Raider\u201d live-action show<\/a> starring Sophie Turner. Amazon is also currently at work on a live-action \u201cGod of War\u201d show, though they are on the hunt for a new lead following an on-set injury to Kratos actor Ryan Hurst<\/a>. <\/p>\n
