{"id":978151,"date":"2026-08-03T16:05:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:05:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/978151\/"},"modified":"2026-08-03T16:05:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T16:05:17","slug":"saban-takes-north-america-for-uk-haunted-house-horror-the-caged","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/978151\/","title":{"rendered":"Saban Takes North America For UK Haunted House Horror &#8216;The Caged&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>EXCLUSIVE:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/saban\/\" id=\"auto-tag_saban\" data-tag=\"saban\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Saban<\/a> Films has acquired North American rights to Jeffrey Scott Collins\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-caged\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-caged\" data-tag=\"the-caged\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Caged<\/a> starring Tamzin Merchant (Carnival Row), Edmund Kingsley (Dirty Angels), Raffiella Chapman (Miss Peregrine\u2019s Home for Peculiar Children) and newcomer Callen Carter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tInspired by true events, the horror film follows a family that is terrorized by a dark presence after they move into a quaint cottage in an unassuming English coastal town.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUncovering its history, they discover their once dream home lies on the site of a medieval prison set aside for those accused of witchcraft, including England\u2019s most notorious witch, hanged in 1582.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe deal was negotiated by Steve Break on behalf of Saban Films, and by <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-coven\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-coven\" data-tag=\"the-coven\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Coven<\/a> on behalf of the filmmakers. The Coven is also handling international sales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCollins directed the film from a script he also wrote. Producers are Joseph C. Grano (Dolly) at Set Point Entertainment; Collins (Above the Line), under his Seems Reel Entertainment; Gaby Whyte Hart (Just Play Dead)\u00a0at Fearless Productions; and Llewelynn Greeff (Young Guns) at Dark Matter Studios.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPriscilla Smith and Kendall Anlian (Terrifier) of The Coven serve as Executive Producers, alongside Adam Margules (The Vigil) through his company, Angry Adam Productions, along with Daniel Hockley, Ian Dawson, Rupert Hollier, Simon Fawcett, Christian Sheedy, Michael Santos, and Ken Davenport. Arran MacLennan, Jed Tune, and Cory Levin serve as Co-producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt is Collins\u2019 second feature after\u00a0Above the Line, which was released in June by Quiver Distribution.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cThe Caged\u00a0centers around one of the most extraordinary and terrifying events and places in England\u2019s history. With that as the foundation, it delves into complex family and marital dynamics and explores how they are tested when thrust into a horrifying pressure cooker,\u201d said Collins.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u00a0\u201cMuch like my favorite horror films,\u00a0The Caged\u00a0is very real and grounded, with rich, layered characters, and aims to terrify its audience both physically and psychologically.
