Party<\/a> activist named Ilan Mans was attacked and hospitalized last week at Hemed Bridge while attempting to remove a sign that read, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/yigal-amir\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yigal Amir<\/a> will be released,\u201d according to reports from Hebrew media.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The sign had been hung by a group protesting Amir&#8217;s prison sentence, who were still present when Mans approached Hemed Bridge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">When Mans began to take down the sign, he was confronted and attacked by the protesters who had put it up.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Footage of the incident shows Mans lying on the ground with several protesters surrounding him and assaulting him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Mans stated to Walla that police did not arrive at the scene after the attack.<\/p>\n<p>Following the attack, Mans was taken to the neurological department at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital, where he is receiving treatment for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-904402\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">bleeding in the brain<\/a> caused by the injuries he sustained during the altercation.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He is scheduled to undergo surgery for the bleeding in hopes of recovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In response to the incident, the Yashar! Party issued a statement on X\/Twitter on Monday, wishing Mans a \u201cspeedy recovery\u201d and calling on the police to arrest the attackers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cIsrael Police must act immediately to arrest the attackers and bring them to justice,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Additionally, the Yashar! Party noted that Gadi Eisenkot spoke with Ilan on Friday following the attack to offer his support.<\/p>\n<p>Yigal Amir murdered former prime minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/yitzhak-rabin\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Yitzhak Rabin<\/a> on November 4, 1995, shooting him at the end of a peace rally in Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Rabin died from his wounds shortly afterward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Amir was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment, along with an additional prison term. He has remained in prison since his conviction, and calls for his release have repeatedly sparked intense public controversy in Israel.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A 76-year-old Yashar!
