Despite all of the reform and accountability in Texas public education, the Houston ISD continues to double down on their attack against a conservative activist.<\/p>\n
Do you remember Bonnie Wallace? She was physically removed by 3 officers from a board meeting back in March.<\/p>\n
“I was reading exact excerpts from a book that they had purchased, and they didn’t like it” Wallace said, “The speech made them uncomfortable. I guess their only concern was protecting children at the Houston school board meetings, but not in the Houston ISD campuses and campus libraries.”<\/p>\n
She notes the stunning contradiction, and pure hypocrisy by the HISD. Especially, since HISD has allowed roughly 2,000 really bad books to be available for kids to read. Books like: ‘Gravity’s Rainbow’, ‘By The Time You Read This, I’ll Be Dead’, or how about the book ‘Boy Toy’ – about a sixth grade boy who has a sexual relationship with his teacher. And there is even an entire series of books titled: The Assassination Classroom. There are 21 volumes, with each one highlighting a teacher bringing a weapon to school to kill their students, or a student having a gun to kill his classmates and teacher. These are the books that HISD and Democrats are protecting, and fighting to keep available to kids.<\/p>\n
“When I’m speaking to Houston ISD, reading their government speech, it was not my speech, it was their speech” Wallace told KTRH, “They purchased this book, they placed it on the shelves. And so we have to do better.”<\/p>\n
