The Irish government\u2019s new $61 million \u201cAir Force One\u201d is coming without a navigational system for landing in bad weather \u2014 because it\u2019s boycotting Israeli parts.<\/p>\n
The Dassault Falcon 6X, designed to ferry Ireland\u2019s leaders around the world, was purchased without the FalconEye system, a part which normally sits in the nose of the plane, allowing it to land in foggy or misty conditions, Irish outlet\u00a0The Journal reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n That is because the FalconEye system is made by Israel-based manufacturer Elbit, sources told the outlet.<\/p>\n Ireland\u2019s new government jet does not include a landing system, due to a boycott of Israeli-made parts. Department of Defense<\/p>\n Ireland\u2019s governing Taoiseach,\u00a0Miche\u00e1l Martin, said that the Republic would not be purchasing Israeli-made products, in a speech in 2024 when he was still Foreign Minister. <\/p>\n The missing system could have come in handy in the Emerald Isle, which is famously one of the wettest and most overcast places in the world.<\/p>\n Ireland gets just 1,100 and 1,600 hours of sunshine annually, making it one of the cloudiest regions in Europe.<\/p>\n Cork Airport, the nation\u2019s second-busiest terminal after Dublin, experiences 99 days of fog annually.<\/p>\n Taoiseach Micheal Martin previously said in 2024 that Ireland\u2019s government would not use any Israeli parts. ZUMAPRESS.com<\/p>\n The new plane, made by Dassault Aviation SA, is capable of carrying 14 passengers and will primarily be used to transport the Taoiseach \u2014 the Irish prime minister \u2014 and other government officials.<\/p>\n It was delivered at the end of 2025 to replace the Irish government\u2019s previous Learjet.<\/p>\n Despite the boycott of Israeli-made products, four new Irish Air Corps helicopters do include Israel-manufactured flight systems, because the craft cannot be made without them, the Journal reported.<\/p>\n Ireland has seen some of the most visceral anti-Israel protests in recent years.
