{"id":980859,"date":"2026-08-04T21:17:13","date_gmt":"2026-08-04T21:17:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/980859\/"},"modified":"2026-08-04T21:17:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T21:17:13","slug":"aps-customers-use-record-amount-of-energy-as-phoenix-sees-record-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/980859\/","title":{"rendered":"APS customers use record amount of energy as Phoenix sees record high"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\"><b>PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 For the second time in less than two weeks, Arizona Public Service customers used more electricity than ever before.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">The utility said Tuesday that customers set a new all-time peak energy record on Sunday by using 9,164 megawatts between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">The old record of 9,053 megawatts was set on July 24.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">One megawatt is enough to power about 160 homes, APS said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Phoenix set a record high temperature on Sunday at 115 degrees, beating last year\u2019s record by one degree. Yuma saw the high temperature reach 114 degrees, which is seven degrees above normal.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Afternoon high temperatures were in the 110-120\u00b0 range across the lower deserts &amp; in the 95-110\u00b0 range across the higher terrain areas. Phoenix set a new record high for today&#8217;s date (breaking last year&#8217;s record of 114\u00b0) &amp; El Centro tied their record high for today. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/azwx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">#azwx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/hashtag\/cawx?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">#cawx<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/udOeqIfuk2\" rel=\"nofollow\">pic.twitter.com\/udOeqIfuk2<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 NWS Phoenix (@NWSPhoenix) <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/NWSPhoenix\/status\/2084079825996656770?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow\">August 3, 2026<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">An APS spokesperson said workers use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2026\/07\/30\/how-aps-srp-prepare-record-demand\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2026\/07\/30\/how-aps-srp-prepare-record-demand\/\">a real-time operations desk to coordinate and manage<\/a> supply moment to moment.
