A Cambridge professor ensnared in plagiarism accusations <\/a>also reportedly fudged his resume by claiming he held positions at three other universities.<\/p>\n

Jason Arday, the youngest black man ever to\u00a0hold a professorship at<\/a> the University of Cambridge, has come under fire for appearing to have lifted more than 100 passages in his PhD dissertation from another academic\u2019s work.\u00a0<\/p>\n

University of Cambridge Professor Jason Arday fudged his professional affiliations at three universities in his professional biography, according to reports. YouTube\/St Mary’s University, London<\/p>\n

Recent reports, however, also allege the professor falsely claimed to work at three different academic institutions in his official biography at the University of Cambridge.<\/p>\n

Arday listed on his bio that he is a visiting professor at Ohio State University\u2019s Office of Diversity and Inclusion \u2014 though the school\u2019s DEI office closed in 2025 and school administrators said they have no record of him as an employee, according to the National Review. <\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no record of an employee by that name,\u201d Ohio State University spokesman Benjamin Johnson told the outlet. <\/p>\n

But it wasn\u2019t the only line he spoofed on his resume. The University of\u00a0Glasgow\u00a0\u2014 where Arday also claims he works as a visiting professor in the School of Education \u2014 similarly said they have no record of him working there, the Daily Mail reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the school told the outlet in a statement that Arday \u201cisn\u2019t a visiting professor at the University of Glasgow.\u201d<\/p>\n

He lists working at Durham University in the Department of Sociology as an honorary professor \u2014 and t although he held several roles at the UK school, he currently holds no \u201cformal\u201d position there, according to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Arday, who received media attention for becoming the youngest black professor ever at the University of Cambridge in England, has recently come under scrutiny for allegedly plagiarizing his academic work. University of Cambridge<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Durham told the outlet that the Arday instead \u201chad an unpaid academic association \u2026 in relation to ongoing project work.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ohio State, Durham University and the University of Glasgow did not immediately respond to The Post\u2019s request for comment.<\/p>\n

Arday, who became Cambridge\u2019s youngest black professor at 37, has been the subject of glowing media profiles about his journey to overcome adversity and achieve elite academic prestige.<\/p>\n

The sociology of education professor has also said he has autism spectrum disorder and was nonverbal until age 11. <\/p>\n

But controversy surrounding the educator swirled last month after Nathan Cofnas, a postdoctoral researcher at Ghent University in Belgium, published a Substack article<\/a> detailing several instances in which Arday\u2019s doctoral dissertation appeared to be plagiarized.<\/p>\n

The Telegraph also reported\u00a0an analysis showing that more than 100 passages in his thesis appeared to be similar to or lifted from the thesis of Brunel University student Paula Zwozdiak-Myers.<\/p>\n

Arday told the Guardian that he fully supports \u201cfair investigation processes for genuine concerns\u201d of academic misconduct. Jason Arday<\/p>\n

Cofnas, who previously held a research position at Cambridge\u2019s Emmanuel College, was sacked in 2024 after his writings on IQ differences across racial groups and disparate outcomes in meritocracies drew backlash, the National Review reported.<\/p>\n

He controversially claimed the number of black students at Harvard would fall below 1% if admissions were meritocratic, the outlet said.<\/p>\n

Lawyers at the Ivy League university described the assertion as \u201cincomplete, preliminary, and based on limited inputs.\u201d Cofnas also sued Emmanuel College, but lost.<\/p>\n

Cambridge told the Guardian<\/a> in a statement that it had passed the plagiarism complaints to the university where Arday completed the PhD, Liverpool John Moores, which had reviewed the work and found he had not plagiarised.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe take allegations of academic misconduct incredibly seriously,\u201d a Cambridge spokesperson said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt is university procedure that investigations are carried out by the institution at which the research was undertaken. This is standard practice in the sector because that institution has access to the information to ensure a full and fair investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arday also told the outlet that he fully supports \u201cfair investigation processes for genuine concerns\u201d of academic misconduct. <\/p>\n

\u201cTo clarify, there have been multiple thorough investigations across several institutions as a result of the allegations, and immense scrutiny, including with an academic misconduct panel who concluded that there was no plagiarism or academic misconduct,\u201d Arday added. <\/p>\n
