He also shared a New York Post cover that read, \u201cNo wonder he was canned, \u2018The Left Show With Stephen Colbert.&#8217;\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cThis is so damning,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/piersmorgan\/status\/1949412948646170774?s=46&amp;t=7dEMLEvmtKbqI2lGLTp4lQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Morgan wrote<\/a>. \u201cMost of America\u2019s biggest late-night hosts have become nothing more than hyper-partisan activist hacks for the Democrats \u2013 a party that\u2019s rarely been more unpopular. No wonder Colbert got canned. More will follow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMorgan is not the only television authority to speak out on Colbert\u2019s cancellation. Also on Sunday, former \u201cTonight Show\u201d host Jay Leno said late-night frontmen too often alienate part of their audience by \u201ccozying up\u201d to one political party. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI love political humor, don\u2019t get me wrong. But it\u2019s just what happens when people wind up cozying too much to one side or the other.\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/tv\/news\/jay-leno-political-views-late-night-host-alienate-half-the-audience-1236471419\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leno said<\/a> in an interview with David Trulio, president and CEO of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute. \u201cWhy shoot for just half an audience all the time? You know, why not try to get the whole. I mean, I like to bring people into the big picture.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt was announced on July 17 that the entire \u201cLate Show,\u201d not just Colbert\u2019s iteration, would come to a close after the next TV season.
