South Texas singer-songwriter and Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Pulido will host a hybrid concert-campaign event later this month in the Hill Country town of Bee Cave, joined by luminaries from the two realms he straddles: music and politics.<\/p>\n

Texas Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa and U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico will make guest appearances during the gathering, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 22, at The Grand Dance Hall in Bee Cave. Admission is free<\/p>\n

Pulido, a two-time Latin Grammy Winner, will perform at the event. The also will feature a performance by San Antonio cumbia artist Vanita Leo, who\u2019s caught buzz from Rolling Stone and other national publications for her infectious singles and artistic chola aesthetics.<\/p>\n

Tejano accordion player Lucky Joe will also perform \u2014 as well as Pulido\u2019s father, legendary Tejano artist Roberto Pulido. <\/p>\n

Pulido carried on his father\u2019s legacy with his 1995 debut album Desvelado, emerging as a teen heartthrob. His single of the same name climbed to No. 9 on the Billboard Top Latin Album charts.<\/p>\n

However, the Texas musician has more recently set his sights on politics. Last September, Pulido announced he would run as a Democrat to represent Texas\u2019s 15th Congressional District\u00a0as in the\u00a02026 election. He\u2019s challenging\u00a0Republican\u00a0incumbent U.S. Rep.\u00a0Monica De La Cruz.<\/p>\n
