It isn\u2019t quite in the same blockbuster tier as The Conjuring movies, but the Insidious franchise<\/a>\u2014another series with James Wan<\/a> and Patrick Wilson<\/a> roots\u2014has been making money hand over fist since 2010. Wilson made his feature directorial debut with 2023\u2019s Insidious: The Red Door<\/a>, which he also starred in; it became the highest-grossing Insidious movie to date.<\/p>\n

The next installment, Insidious: Out of the Further, branches out into a new chapter, though Lin Shaye\u2019s Elise Rainer, who\u2019s been in every Insidious movie despite dying in the original film, will once again appear. The Haunting of Bly Manor\u2018s Amelia Eve plays the main character, a woman with a very spooky and potentially apocalyptic problem.<\/p>\n

A final trailer is here, teasing more jump scares<\/a> and otherworldly frights:<\/p>\n

\u201cIn Insidious: Out of the Further, Amelia Eve stars as Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in who discovers she can travel into the Further, the purgatorial realm of lost souls at the heart of the Insidious universe,\u201d reads the official synopsis. \u201cWhen something evil comes after her, Gemma discovers an ability that changes everything: she doesn\u2019t just enter the Further, she can bring what lives there back to the real world. Once the demons realize her power, our world becomes their playground.\u201d<\/p>\n

The stakes are higher than ever now that those Further ghouls have discovered a way into the human world, and from the looks of that trailer, Out of the Further will be somewhat stripped down\u2014focusing mostly on Amelia\u2019s spiraling terror as she realizes her unwelcome power. Good thing Elise is on the other side helping her navigate and passing on wisdom like \u201cWhen the dead rise, it\u2019ll be the end of the living.\u201d<\/p>\n

Written and directed by Jacob Chase, Insidious: Out of the Further arrives August 21. Will you be tiptoeing through the tulips to see it?<\/p>\n
