New York Giants wide receiver and special teams standout Bryce Ford-Wheaton tore his Achilles at training camp. He’ll miss the entire season.<\/p>\n

The news was originally broken by The Athletic’s Dan Duggan<\/a>, but Ford-Wheaton then went on social media to share his feelings.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d be lying if\u00a0I said I wasn\u2019t devastated! I did everything by the book!\u201d Ford-Wheaton wrote<\/a>. \u201cDidn\u2019t take a single shortcut, left no stone unturned, invested everything into my body and my health this year. I\u2019m not sure why me but I promise I\u2019m not going out on these terms. It\u2019s a long road ahead for sure but I know this is just part of God\u2019s plan for me no matter how tough it may seem right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ford-Wheaton played 78% of the available special teams snaps last year, proving his worth in multiple roles to the Giants.<\/p>\n

It’s one of those roles that isn’t as easy to replace as you’d think, because players don’t always get the chance to prove themselves on special teams until an opening like this occurs. Someone may have a shot at making the Giants’ roster that didn’t previously feel like they had one.<\/p>\n

It’s a bummer for Ford-Wheaton, though, to have this season taken away from him before it even starts.<\/p>\n
