Willy Mobilo \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>Researchers fed aging mice a drug used to induce <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/24\/health\/eating-this-fruit-can-improve-muscle-health-at-the-genetic-level\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sarcopenia<\/a> \u2014 age-related muscle loss \u2014 and then supplemented diets with variants of goat or cow milk. <\/p>\n<p>Not only did dairy supplementation alleviate loss of lean weight, but critically, only goat milk products (not bovine) significantly reduced fat weight. <\/p>\n<p>Among the milks tested, low\u2011fat goat milk fortified with vitamin D and calcium (GFM) came out on top.<\/p>\n<p>Sarcopenia afflicts 10\u201327% of older adults worldwide, often leading to falls, frailty and soaring healthcare costs. <\/p>\n<p>Current prevention strategies lean heavily on resistance training and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/21\/health\/nutritionists-weigh-in-on-foods-with-added-protein\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high\u2011protein diets<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Dairy is already in the mix, but this study suggests goat milk \u2014 especially low\u2011fat fortified forms \u2014 may offer superior anti\u2011inflammatory, <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/26\/health\/keeping-this-body-part-healthy-is-the-ultimate-biohack\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gut health<\/a> and muscle\u2011building benefits compared to conventional cow\u2019s milk.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36659808\" width=\"885\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/asian-african-american-woman-finishing-108839852.jpg\" alt=\"Two women in athletic wear holding protein shakes after a workout.\" class=\"wp-image-36659808\"  \/>The study suggests goat milk \u2014 especially low\u2011fat fortified forms \u2014 may offer superior anti\u2011inflammatory, gut health and muscle\u2011building benefits compared to conventional cow\u2019s milk. anon \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time goat milk has made the news as a buzzy health trend. <\/p>\n<p>The residents of Sardinia, Italy \u2014 who routinely live past 100 \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/09\/07\/inside-the-blue-zones-where-people-live-the-longest\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">swear by goat milk as a longevity secret<\/a>, thanks to its richness in potassium and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/10\/17\/health\/dietitians-reveal-best-and-worst-foods-for-stress-relief\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stress\u2011relieving tryptophan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Goat milk contains 33% more potassium \u2014 which is crucial for maintaining fluid balance, proper muscle function, nerve transmission and supporting heart health \u2014 per serving compared to cow milk.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also easier to digest due to smaller fat globules and lower levels of the allergenic A1 casein protein.<\/p>\n<p>Goat milk is less inflammatory and better tolerated by people with mild lactose sensitivity.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, it\u2019s naturally higher in certain bioactive compounds, like oligosaccharides and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/02\/11\/health\/im-a-holistic-doctor-3-foods-that-mimic-ozempic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">medium-chain triglycerides<\/a>, which offer antioxidant and antimicrobial benefits.<\/p>\n<p>You can find goat\u2019s milk at most major grocery stores, including Whole Foods and Walmart. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Got milk?
