{"id":98417,"date":"2025-07-28T04:02:16","date_gmt":"2025-07-28T04:02:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/98417\/"},"modified":"2025-07-28T04:02:16","modified_gmt":"2025-07-28T04:02:16","slug":"seth-lugo-gets-royals-contract-extension-ahead-of-mlb-trade-deadline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/98417\/","title":{"rendered":"Seth Lugo gets Royals contract extension ahead of MLB trade deadline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Seth Lugo will remain in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The right-hander and the Royals are finalizing a multi-year contract extension, according to multiple reports on Sunday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The new deal is expected to be a deal worth about $46 million over two years and includes a vesting option with Kansas City, <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JonHeyman\/status\/1949650195014107267\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Post\u2019s Jon Heyman reported.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>No confirmation has officially come from the club, but the news ends speculation that Lugo could have been moved at the trade deadline, which is quickly approaching this Thursday at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The former Met had originally signed with Kansas City a three-year, $45 million contract that included a player option after this season, which many people believed Lugo would take advantage of.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36661823\" width=\"736\" height=\"491\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/kansas-city-royals-pitcher-seth-108612996.jpg\" alt=\"Kansas City Royals pitcher Seth Lugo throwing a baseball.\" class=\"wp-image-36661823\" style=\"width:736px;height:auto;aspect-ratio:1.49926794;display:block\"  \/>Seth Lugo is finalizing a contract extension with the Royals.
