Sconzo Early College High School<\/a>: Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.-1 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What&#8217;s new<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In May, the HISD board of trustees approved a 3% overall general pay increase for staff members and raised the starting salary for new teachers from $66,000 in fiscal year 2025-26 to $68,000 in FY 2026-27. The 2026-27 compensation plan also included an 8% total increase to bus driver and bus aide pay, up to $1,600 per year in incentives for bus drivers, a 4% total increase to custodian pay and a 6% total increase to high school principal pay, as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/humble-isd-trustees-approve-3-overall-general-pay-increase-for-staff-members\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> by Community Impact.<\/p>\n<p>In June, trustees approved a balanced budget for FY 2026-27, which includes a projected surplus of $660,000. The district is projected to spend roughly $559.4 million in its general fund budget, while taking in roughly $560.1 million in revenue, as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/humble-isd-2026-27-budget-includes-special-education-positions-staff-raises\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> by Community Impact. Roughly $755,000 will be spent on various special education initiatives, including about $582,000 in new positions.<\/p>\n<p>Also in June, HISD trustees <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/humble-isd-trustees-appoint-new-board-president-change-meeting-time\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">appointed<\/a> Position 7 trustee Michael Grabowski to serve as board president for a one-year term. Trustees also voted to change the start time of regularly scheduled meetings, which now begin in closed session at 5 p.m. and move into open session at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the new 122,000-square-foot <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humbleisd.net\/o\/fe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Foster Elementary School<\/a> replacement campus will open to students for the 2026-27 school year, as previously <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/humble-isds-rebuilt-foster-elementary-school-set-to-open-in-august\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported <\/a>by Community Impact. Construction began in September 2024 on the $44 million campus, which is located in close proximity to the old campus. The project was funded through the district&#8217;s $775 million bond package approved by voters in May 2022.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important to note<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Transportation: <\/strong>Students who plan to ride the bus in the 2026-27 school year must be registered in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humbleisd.net\/page\/attendance-zones-bus-routes\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zum Registration Tool<\/a> prior to the first day of school, according to information on the district&#8217;s website. To register on Zum, <a href=\"https:\/\/register.ridezum.com\/humble-sy-2026-27\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Child nutrition: <\/strong>All students may eat breakfast free of charge at all campuses during the 2026-27 school year, according to information on the district&#8217;s website. Additionally, there are no increases in the cost of student meals for this school year. To complete the annual update for returning students, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humbleisd.net\/page\/annual-update\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>. Enrollment for new students <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/humble-isd-opens-enrollment-for-the-2026-27-school-year\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened in April<\/a>, per information on the district&#8217;s website. To complete enrollment for new students, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humbleisd.net\/o\/humbleisd\/page\/enrollment\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Volunteering: <\/strong>A new volunteer application is required each school year to ensure the safety and security of HISD campuses, according to the district&#8217;s website. To complete a volunteer application, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.humbleisd.net\/o\/humbleisd\/page\/volunteers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">click here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>One more thing <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Erase the Need, a school supply distribution event for all HISD families, will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 7 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.second.org\/north\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Second Baptist Church<\/a>, located at 22770 Hwy. 59, Kingwood.
