A Los Angeles pet store has been the target of two burglaries within the past week at two of the store locations, authorities and the business owner confirmed Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Los Angeles Police Department first arrived at Urban Pet\u2019s Fairfax District location early Saturday morning after a break-in set of its security alarm.<\/p>\n
A suspect was seen on surveillance video wearing a hoodie and a backpack, smashing a window to gain entry to the store.The suspect then used a flashlight to go through the store and stole money from the store\u2019s safe, said Urban Pet owner Zack Grey.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Less than a week later, another break-in was reported at Urban Pet\u2019s Silver Lake store at around 5:45 a.m. Thursday.<\/p>\n
Security footage showed two suspects, one wearing an orange hoodie, the other wearing a tan jacket, smashing the front window and stealing the store\u2019s safe, according to Urban Pet Director of Operations Tim Percy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re not nervous, they\u2019re taking their time, they know where they\u2019re looking. It\u2019s not a smash and grab, it\u2019s really articulate,\u201d Percy described the suspects.<\/p>\n
The safes from both stores contained an undisclosed amount of money. In both cases, the suspects fled before police arrived.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
First opened its doors in 2007, Urban Pet has grown into three different store locations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Grey told NBC Los Angeles the impact that the incidents have had on the business.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI am emotionally attached to this business. When something like that happens, it\u2019s like getting your house robbed,\u201d said Grey.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Percy added that being a small business in Los Angeles is already difficult, and these break-ins only make it that much harder.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of our customers are our neighbors and their family and friends. So when people come in and rob independents throughout the city, it damages the community,\u201d said Percy.\u00a0<\/p>\n
