The Dallas Morning News plans to expand coverage on private schools and homeschooling. We want to hear from families, teachers and school administrators. Tell us what questions you have \u2014 and what issues you want us to cover.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The region is home to all kinds of alternatives to the traditional brick-and-mortar public school \u2014 from Montessori schools, to microschools<\/a>, to online schools<\/a>. It can be tricky to navigate. Private schools<\/a> set their own admissions and tuition, and operate under different regulations from their public counterparts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Now, private education has reached a flashpoint.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As Texas\u2019 $1 billion school voucher program<\/a> enters its inaugural year, more than 85,000 students will use taxpayer money to offset private or homeschooling costs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Texas Education Freedom Accounts has sparked fierce debate. Proponents promise school vouchers will give parents more choice over their child\u2019s education. Critics worry that private schools will reject prospective students and money will be diverted from cash-strapped public schools.\u00a0<\/p>\n
