According to data from the Texas Department of Transportation, more than one <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/article\/multi-vehicle-crash-northbound-u-s-75-leaves-one-22342266.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fatal <\/a>collision occurred every day in the region during July.<\/p>\n<p>Across the state, North Texas accounted for one in every five fatal collisions., according to TxDOT data. The 16-county region \u2013 Collin, Dallas, Denton, Ellis, Erath, Hood, Hunt, Johnson, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall, Somervell, Tarrant and Wise \u2013 recorded 8,283 crashes in July. Dallas and Tarrant counties accounted for more than half.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Forty of the region\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/traffic-accidents\/\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">total<\/a> crashes were fatal. The two most populous counties made up over 70% of all fatal collisions \u2013 17 in Dallas County and 12 in Tarrant County. Johnson County followed behind with 3 fatal collisions. Collin and Hunt counties both had two fatal collisions. Denton, Ellis, Hood and Wise all had one fatal car accident.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, almost half the counties in the region &#8211; Erath, Kaufman, Navarro, Palo Pinto, Parker, Rockwall and Somervell &#8211; recorded no fatal crashes last month.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In total, Texas saw 198 fatal car accidents.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Overall, Dallas County had 2,999 collisions, and Tarrant County had 2,032, making up 60% of all car accidents in North Texas. However, more than half of these accidents, in both counties, were non-injury crashes, meaning no one suffered physical harm requiring medical care.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Collin County is the only other area that recorded more than one thousand collisions last month. Somervell County reported the lowest number of collisions with only eight total.
