This marks Oren Koules\u2019 second major horror franchise for Lionsgate, as he previously produced all 10 films in the\u00a0Saw\u00a0series, accounting for over a billion dollars in box office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is also Lionsgate\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2023\/06\/leprechaun-reboot-from-director-felipe-vargas-in-works-at-lionsgate-1235413265\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">second swing<\/a> at revitalizing the Leprechaun franchise in just a few years. Felipe Vargas attached to direct a take from a script by Mike Van Waes in 2024; Roy Lee and Miri Yoon were to produce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking to his entr\u00e9e into the world of\u00a0Leprechaun, Oren Koules told Deadline, \u201cAfter producing all the\u00a0Saw\u00a0films, and twenty-three wonderful years at Lionsgate, I\u2019m thrilled to be working again with the Lionsgate team, Patrick and Marcus, and my son, Miles, on a terrifying new way into the rich world of\u00a0Leprechaun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dan Heffner and Ketura Kestin will executive produce the new film.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A cult horror-comedy franchise revolving around a murderous, wisecracking Leprechaun who will kill anyone who messes with his pot of gold,\u00a0Leprechaun\u00a0spans eight films released between 1993 and 2018. Writer-director Mark Jones was behind the original film, starring Warwick Davis as the vengeful leprechaun \u2014 a role he would perform in six films. Notably, Jennifer Aniston co-starred in the first, in one of her earliest career roles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Lionsgate took control of the\u00a0Leprechaun\u00a0franchise when it acquired Trimark Pictures in 2000. Interestingly,\u00a0Final Destination: Bloodlines\u00a0breakout Zach Lipovsky directed one of the franchise\u2019s most recent entries, 2014\u2019s\u00a0Leprechaun: Origins. Showing an enduring popularity over the years, the\u00a0Leprechaun\u00a0films run in a marathon on Syfy network every St. Patrick\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scribes Melton &amp; Dunstan have previously teamed to write horror titles like\u00a0The Collector,\u00a0Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark,\u00a0and Unhuman; Dunstan directed several of those films. The team also wrote\u00a0Saw IV,\u00a0Saw V,\u00a0Saw VI\u00a0and\u00a0Saw 3D, the seventh film in the series.
