‘Do not approach’: Bobcat spotted in Johnson County, Kansas<\/p>\n

It may look cute … but if you see this cat in your neighborhood, don’t try to pet it! <\/p>\n

The Johnson County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office said Animal Control has received multiple reports of a bobcat in De Soto, Kansas. <\/p>\n

Photos shared by the sheriff’s office show the big cat prowling around a neighborhood. <\/p>\n

But it’s important that residents keep their distance. Authorities say that just because animals pass through a residential area does not mean they need help or food, and the best thing to do is to leave it alone. <\/p>\n

Feeding wild animals could give them a reason to stick around or come back. Additionally, too much time around people could cause the creatures to lose their caution around humans, creating a safety risk for community members, pets and other animals. <\/p>\n

“If you see a bobcat or other wildlife, give it space,” the sheriff’s office said. “Do not approach, follow or feed it. Keeping wildlife wild is better for everyone.” <\/p>\n
