{"id":987251,"date":"2026-08-07T18:07:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-07T18:07:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/987251\/"},"modified":"2026-08-07T18:07:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-07T18:07:15","slug":"box-office-the-odyssey-crosses-1b-will-be-christopher-nolans-highest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/987251\/","title":{"rendered":"Box Office: &#8216;The Odyssey&#8217; Crosses $1B, Will Be Christopher Nolan&#8217;s Highest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This year\u2019s embarrassment of riches at the global box office continues, for we can tell you today that Universal\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/christopher-nolan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_christopher-nolan\" data-tag=\"christopher-nolan\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christopher Nolan<\/a> feature take of Homer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-odyssey\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-odyssey\" data-tag=\"the-odyssey\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Odyssey<\/a> has crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pic will soon become the 2x Oscar winner\u2019s highest grossing movie ever, overtaking the $1.085 billion-grossing Dark Knight Rises. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Sony\/Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man: Brand New Day earlier this week which became the second-fastest to the billion mark worldwide after Avengers: Endgame, Odyssey is the fifth tentpole to cross $1 billion at the 2026 a list that also includes Toy Story 5, Super Mario Galaxy Movie and Michael. Spider-Man: Brand New Day with more than $1.1B is currently the highest grossing pic of the calendar year. Odyssey is Universal\u2019s third film to cross billion this year after Michael ($1.016B) and Super Mario Galaxy Movie ($1.012B)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Broken out, Odyssey has minted $429.7M domestic and $570.3M overseas. The movie opened in Korea on Wednesday and will land in China on Aug. 14 followed by Japan on Sept. 11. Imax auditoriums are at a near sell out in key box office markets like LA &amp; NYC through October, we hear. This weekend, Odyssey will co-share Imax hubs with Brand New Day stateside. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Odyssey\u2018s highest grossing territories as of today are UK\/Ireland ($75.3M), France ($52.4M), Italy ($46.9M), Germany ($35.2M), Australia ($29.8M), Mexico ($28M), Spain ($27.3M), India ($19.6M), Netherlands ($13.9M) and Saudi Arabia ($13.1M).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Combined, Brand New Day and Odyssey counted $2.1 billion at the global box office.
