a deadly incident<\/a> that happened Wednesday night near Tukey’s Bridge.<\/p>\nGlen Rodney, 58, of Portland, Maine, has been charged with murder in connection with the death of 21-year-old Julian Nadeau, also of Portland.<\/p>\n
Police said that shortly after 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to the southbound side of Interstate 295 near Exit 8 and the walking path next to Tukey’s Bridge after receiving a report that a person had been injured there.<\/p>\n
Responding officers found Nadeau lying in the breakdown lane of I-295, adjacent to the walking path. First responders immediately began life-saving measures and transported Nadeau to Maine Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
Investigators determined that Nadeau had been walking along the path with friends when they were approached by a man riding a bicycle, who was later identified as Rodney. Police said a physical altercation happened and Rodney fled the scene moments later.<\/p>\n
Witnesses provided officers with a description of the suspect, who was reported to have left the area on the bicycle. Police located Rodney minutes later on Presumpscot Street and took him into custody without incident.<\/p>\n

Rodney has remained in custody since the night of the incident and he appeared at the Cumberland County Courthouse at 1 p.m. Friday. A judge ordered Rodney to be held without bail until a bail hearing, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11. A status conference has been tentatively scheduled for Jan. 6, 2027.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and police said no additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident will be shared at this time.<\/p>\n
