The LAPD was searching Sunday for two burglars who allegedly broke into a home in Woodland Hills and stole items worth thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n
The homeowner, who did not want to be identified, says the burglary suspects broke in through a sliding glass door while they were out around 7 p.m. He added that his dog was home at the time, but their alarms never went off during the burglary.<\/p>\n
Larry Andrade, a neighbor in the area, says he witnessed two men leaving the home carrying the homeowner’s safe. The neighbor then called to warn the homeowner about the suspicious activity.<\/p>\n
A part of the burglary was captured on video by a good Samaritan from his Tesla vehicle. The driver proceeded to follow the dark colored, plateless Mercedes before the burglars crashed another vehicle about a half mile away from the home.<\/p>\n
“He made a U-turn and apparently tried to maybe go after the Tesla, but he actually hit a white Prius,” said Andrade.<\/p>\n
The driver and passenger ditched the car after they were unable to drive it anymore and ran off, according to the LAPD.<\/p>\n
Investigators assessed the car and trunk to see if they could recover any of the stolen items.<\/p>\n
The homeowner says they hope their safe is recovered from the car, stating that it contains about $50,000 worth of items and cash inside.<\/p>\n
Officers are also looking into whether the Mercedes was involved in any other recent burglaries in this area.<\/p>\n
