A 31-year-old man identified as Trevor Shell was arrested after allegedly raising, pointing and pulling the trigger of a handgun at officers outside his apartment located in the 8400 block of Buckland Street in La Mesa early Saturday morning, according to a release from the City of La Mesa. <\/p>\n
La Mesa police responded to a report of domestic violence at the residence just after 3:30 a.m. During the call, a single gunshot was fired inside the apartment.<\/p>\n
Police said the bullet traveled through a shared wall into a neighboring apartment and struck an uninvolved 51-year-old man while he was sleeping. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition.<\/p>\n
No other injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
Following the shooting, Shell dropped his weapon and was arrested after a brief foot pursuit. Officers used a WRAP restraint during the arrest, and Shell was taken to the hospital to “evaluate his altered mental state,” according to the City of La Mesa. <\/p>\n
No shots were fired by law enforcement. <\/p>\n
Once released from the hospital, Shell will be booked into San Diego County Jail on multiple charges, according to the City of La Mesa. <\/p>\n
