They returned home Saturday after their 10th practice in a demanding 11-day stretch at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., and the roster avoided any major injury issues, withstanding a grueling schedule and workload during the first training camp under the auspices of new head coach John Harbaugh.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI think we got a lot better,\u2019\u2019 Harbaugh said after a final two-hour session at the Sports Performance Center. \u201cThat\u2019s probably what we got out of it. We improved tremendously. We\u2019re much further along than we were when we started. I think we can look back and say that we\u2019ve come a long way.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cThe competition is really tough in this league, and every team is doing the same thing. So you\u2019re in a race every single day to be at least the best you can be. And everybody\u2019s trying to do the same thing in the NFL, so that\u2019s why it\u2019s so tough, but I thought our guys did a good job. I\u2019m happy with where we\u2019re at. It\u2019s just a matter of keeping your head down and staying after it every day. Never taking a breath in terms of your mindset and determination to get better.\u2019\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n

Earlier in camp, Harbaugh said there would not be any live contact action in full pads, unless he decided to do so with the young players on the roster. That went down on the final day, as Harbaugh did not ease off on getaway day, as promised. The third-team offense and defense went at it in a live goal-line period.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was good,\u2019\u2019 Harbaugh said. \u201cYoung guys, goal-line period, live, tackling to the ground. It was enthusiastic and fun, and I liked it.\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Injuries often lead to opportunities. Starting center John Michael Schmitz took a hit to the head Friday and backup Lucas Patrick is dealing with a knee issue.\u00a0<\/p>\n
That meant Bryan Hudson moved in with the starters on the offensive line. Hudson, 25, has been with the Giants since 2024, mostly on the practice squad. Newly signed Brenden Jaimes also lined up at center in his first practice with the team.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Harbaugh said Schmitz continues to undergo tests for a possible concussion.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know if he\u2019s officially in the protocol or not,\u2019\u2019 Harbaugh said. \u201cThey were looking at him this morning for symptoms. It wasn\u2019t anything terrible. So, we\u2019ll just see how they classify him.\u2019\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n
CB Dru Phillips, who left practice Friday with a sprained knee, worked on the side, an indication his physical issue is nothing serious. \u2026 CB Greg Newsome II went down without contact and had to go to the sideline.
