As Melissa Barrera<\/a> enters the final stretch of her Broadway<\/a> debut run in Titanique<\/a>, she\u2019s taking a few days off to get her voice and body back into performance shape.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, the actress who plays Rose DeWitt Bukater in the hit Titanic (1997) musical parody announced that she \u201clost her voice\u201d during a performance this week and is taking the weekend off to recuperate. <\/p>\n

\u201cDoing 8 shows a week of a Broadway musical is no joke,\u201d she wrote on her Instagram Story. \u201cAfter being non-stop since March 26 my body finally told me to take a break. I lost my voice after Wednesday\u2019s show and had to call out Thursday. I did vocal rest and went back in for last night\u2019s show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pushed through because I hate missing shows and missing y\u2019all who travel from all over to see us\u2026 But it was mortifying and stressful and by the end of the show I couldn\u2019t even sing, there was no voice left. So I\u2019m taking this weekend off to rest and let my voice come back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrera continued, \u201cGotta listen to our bodies and there is no shame in that, even though it pains me to miss a single second on that beautiful stage. Love y\u2019all. Sorry to miss you. Will also be out Aug 21 and 22 for different reasons. Final TITANIQUE performance Sept 20!\u201d<\/p>\n

With performances beginning at the St. James Theatre back in March, Barrera made her debut in the original Broadway cast of the musical parody, which was nominated for four Tony Awards, including Best Musical.
