Fontaines D.C.<\/a> debuted two new songs, \u2018Marianne\u2019 and \u2018Six Shot Morning\u2019, during their first full headline show of 2026. Listen below.<\/p>\n

The band played their first show in almost a year last night (August 8), at Baluarte de la Candelaria in C\u00e1diz, Spain. It was also their first headline show since the unexpected passing of their manager Trevor Dietz<\/a>, and it followed their performance<\/a> at the final ever BBC<\/a> live session at Maida Vale earlier this week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fontaines have previously confirmed that they have been working on new material<\/a>, and last night debuted two new songs: \u2018Marianne\u2019 and \u2018Six Shot Morning\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u2018Marianne\u2019 came early in the set, and sees the band lean into a more industrial sound. \u201cThis could be your fatal match,\u201d frontman Grian Chatten sings, with the chorus unfolding: \u201cMarianne, this year you should come and stay here \/ You can follow my lead \/ I can help you disappear.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u2018Six Shot Morning\u2019, played during the encore, is built around a spacey synth, with Chatten singing: \u201cSix shot morning it\u2019s a beautiful world,\u201d over a pulsing bassline.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The band shared news of Dietz\u2019s passing in June, writing that he \u201cwas beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band\u201d and called him \u201cthe sixth member of the band\u201d.<\/p>\n

The band will continue their return to the stage this month\u00a0<\/a>for a run of European dates as part of the follow-up to the\u00a0\u2018Romance\u2019<\/a> era, before their massive shows headlining Reading & Leeds 2026<\/a>.<\/p>\n

They\u2019ve also\u00a0been working on new material,\u00a0<\/a>having recently contributed music to the\u00a0Peaky Blinders: Immortal Man\u00a0soundtrack<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0War Child \u2018Help(2)\u2019 album<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with NME\u00a0<\/a>earlier this year<\/a>, guitarist Carlos O\u2019Connell told us they may play new music during their sets at Reading & Leeds. \u201cI\u2019d say so. If there is stuff written, then I would say so, yeah. That\u2019s what we used to do all the time, play the new stuff live \u2013 songs that weren\u2019t even finished. It\u2019s a good way to test the songs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
