HOUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 A motorcyclist was critically injured Saturday night after a high-speed crash on the North Freeway while troopers tried to stop the rider, the Texas Department of Public Safety<\/a> said.<\/p>\n DPS said a trooper spotted a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed without a license plate around 7:30 p.m. Troopers attempted to pull the rider over for the plate violation, but the motorcycle took off instead, DPS said.<\/p>\n According to DPS, the rider exited the freeway, turned around and re-entered I-45, then continued weaving through traffic while attempting to get away from the trooper. The pursuit ended near Exit 41A, where DPS said the motorcycle hit a metal barrier at more than 100 mph.<\/p>\n The rider suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital in critical condition, DPS said.
