Mayor Zohran Mamdani stayed mum on the topic of his icy relationship with Rep. Adriano Espaillat<\/a> as they both marched in the Dominican Day Parade Sunday \u2014 with the two keeping their distance during the festivities.<\/p>\n

Hizzoner wouldn\u2019t say if he and the Democratic congressman spoke at a press conference about the parade\u2019s security on Friday.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re all just focused on the parade,\u201d Mamdani told The Post on the parade route in Manhattan.<\/p>\n

The mayor kept his statements general when he was asked specifically what it was like to have seen Espaillat on stage for a ceremony at the start of Sunday\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was good to see everybody on stage, good to see everyone out here,\u201d Hizzoner said.<\/p>\n

Espaillat shook his head when a reporter asked what it was like to see Mamdani again at the parade.<\/p>\n

The two also kept their distance physically when they shared a float while delivering opening remarks as the parade kicked off that morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A wall of pols and officials \u2014 including the parade\u2019s grand marshal Dr. Ramon Tallaj, Gov. Kathy Hochul, City Council Speaker Julie Menin, Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark \u2014 were seen standing between the mayor and the representative.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As the pair took to marching the parade route, Espaillat was seen walking with Hochul, the two appearing chummy, while the mayor marched the parade with his own cadre.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rotten relationship between Mamdani and Espaillat developed after Hizzoner backed far-left candidate Darializa Avila Chevalier<\/a> in a primary election for Espaillat\u2019s seat in NY-13, which includes Harlem, Washington Heights and parts of the Bronx.<\/p>\n

Avila Chevalier ended up beating Espaillat in the June primary,<\/a> replacing the first Dominican-American as the Democratic pick for Congress after he represented the district since 2017.<\/p>\n

Friday\u2019s press conference saw Mamdani and Espaillat share a room for the first time since the big win.<\/p>\n

Neither seemed to acknowledge each other as they discussed the heightened security measures in preparation for Sunday\u2019s Dominican Day Parade.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Mayor Zohran Mamdani stayed mum on the topic of his icy relationship with Rep.
