{"id":991942,"date":"2026-08-09T23:10:24","date_gmt":"2026-08-09T23:10:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/991942\/"},"modified":"2026-08-09T23:10:24","modified_gmt":"2026-08-09T23:10:24","slug":"septas-11th-street-station-closing-sept-5-for-renovations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/991942\/","title":{"rendered":"SEPTA\u2019s 11th Street Station closing Sept. 5 for renovations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From Philly and the Pa. suburbs to South Jersey and Delaware, what would you like WHYY News to cover? <a href=\"#Section1\">Let us know!<\/a>\n<\/p>\n<p>Starting Sept. 5, SEPTA will close 11th Street Station in Center City for more than a year for a major renovation project at the Market-Frankford Line stop.\n<\/p>\n<p>Trains will skip the stop until Aug. 30, 2027, for the <a href=\"https:\/\/wwww.septa.org\/news\/11th-st-station-accessibility-project\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$44 million accessibility project<\/a>. In addition, the concourse from 13th to 11th streets will close until the project is completed. More than 9,400 riders pass through the station each weekday, according to SEPTA.\n<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA will add elevator access from the street level to the eastbound and westbound platforms. The two new elevators will make 11th Street Station fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are excited to begin this work that will result in a better experience for riders of any ability who use this station,\u201d SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said in a release. \u201cWe have made great strides in recent years to bring SEPTA closer to our commitment to make the system accessible to all.\u201d\n  <\/p>\n<p>Construction estimates for similar projects usually take 35 months.
