\n\tTop Middle East broadcaster MBC Group<\/a>\u00a0has forged a groundbreaking partnership with Netflix<\/a> under which the U.S. streaming giant will play alongside its Shahid streamer on MBC\u2019s recently launched MBCNOW entertainment content aggregator.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe newly created bundle will combine Netflix and Shahid in addition to MBC\u2019s linear TV channels, under one single subscription.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThis first-of-this-kind partnership for Netflix in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) follows similar carriage deals recently struck between major TV networks in Europe and streaming services, starting with Netflix and French broadcaster TF1 and followed by Prime Video and France Televisions, which is another French broadcaster, and by Disney+ and Britain\u2019s ITV in the U.K.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAs of December 2024 Shahid \u2013 which is the MENA region\u2019s top streamer \u2013 had 4.4 million subscribers, while Netflix had 3 million subs, according to the most recent figures from global analyst Omdia. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis groundbreaking partnership is one for the books,\u201d said Fadel Zahreddine, group director of emerging media at MBC GROUP is a statement. \u201cTo have two streaming giants \u2013 Shahid and Netflix \u2013 come together under one platform is something never seen before in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and wider MENA, and we\u2019re very excited for what\u2019s to come,\u201d the executive added.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is definitely the future of streaming and content consumption,\u201d noted Bhanu Chaddha, MBC Group\u2019s director of distribution and TV products.<\/p>\n

\n\tCommented Mohammed Al Kuraishi, head of business development and partnerships, Middle East and Africa at Netflix: \u201cWe\u2019re thrilled to have MBC Group join forces with Netflix to bring its content to our audiences under the convenience of a single subscription.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe MBC\/Netflix bundle combines Shahid\u2019s vast library of Arabic TV shows, films, and documentaries \u2013 including a substantial number of original productions \u2013 along with Netflix\u2019s full catalogue. The bundle will give customers \u201ca saving of\u00a0 more than or 21% compared to individual subscriptions,\u201d according to the statement.<\/p>\n

\n\tStreaming is booming across the MENA region, where the OTT subscription video market, led by MBC\u2019s Shahid, generated revenues estimated at $1.2 billion in 2024, according to Omdia, which projects continued MENA market growth.<\/p>\n
