\n\tAcademy Award nominee Jacob Elordi<\/a> is in talks to star in Ari Aster<\/a>\u2018s next film, A24\u2019s \u201cScapegoat,\u201d which already boasts fellow Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson<\/a> leading the cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe logline for the film is being kept under wraps, but there\u2019s been plenty of early speculation about the plot. Some say the thriller is about a doctor who operates on an internet-famous person; others say it\u2019s a sci-fi romance; and still others have described it as more of a traditional drama for Aster.<\/p>\n

\n\tAster wrote and will direct the film, with Lars Knudsen producing for their Square Peg banner.<\/p>\n

\n\tNews of Elordi\u2019s casting comes during a big year for the Australian actor, known for his roles in HBO\u2019s \u201cEuphoria,\u201d \u201cThe Kissing Booth\u201d movies and \u201cSaltburn.\u201d He kicked off 2026 by earning an Academy Award nomination and a Golden Globe nod for his role in Guillermo del Toro\u2019s \u201cFrankenstein\u201d for Netflix, as well as a second Golden Globe nod for the Prime Video limited series \u201cThe Narrow Road to the Deep North.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tWhile working the awards circuit, Elordi simultanteously embarked on the global press tour for \u201cWuthering Heights,\u201d filmmaker Emerald Fennell\u2019s take on the classic gothic romance. The Warner Bros. film \u2014 co-starring Margot Robbie, who also produced \u2014\u00a0was a box office hit, grossing over $240 million globally against an $80 million production budget.<\/p>\n

\n\tThen, this spring, Elordi wrapped up his tenure on \u201cEuphoria\u201d with the buzzy show\u2019s third and final season. The actor will next star in Ridley Scott\u2019s \u201cThe Dog Stars\u201d for 20th Century Studios; the post-apocalyptic survival thriller, based on Peter Heller\u2019s bestselling novel, will be released in theaters on Aug. 28. <\/p>\n
