\n\tMrs. Doubtfire<\/a> star Matthew Lawrence<\/a> has said he would \u201clove\u201d to bring back Robin Williams<\/a> using artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n

\n\tWilliams and Lawrence appeared as father and son in Chris Columbus\u2019 beloved 1993 comedy drama, which was based on the novel Madame Doubtfire by Anne Fine.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking to Entertainment Weekly at Comic-Con over the weekend, Lawrence said he has spent time thinking about reviving Williams\u2019 \u201ciconic\u201d voice with AI. Williams died by suicide in 2014 at the age of 63.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would love \u2014 now, obviously, with the respect and with the ok from his family \u2014 but I would love to do something really special with his voice because I know for a generation, that voice is just so iconic,\u201d Lawrence explained.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s not just the fact that I knew him and worked with him and so it\u2019s in my head \u2014 it\u2019s in everybody\u2019s head. And it would be so cool.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe actor, who went on to appear in Boy Meets World, NCIS, and Marry Christmas, said the notion was sparked by watching an old commercial featuring a voiceover from Williams. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s kinda like this very contemporary, modern, almost sort of foreshadowing of what\u2019s going on commercial that he did,\u00a0where he did this computerized voiceover,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd it always stuck with me. And then, during his passing, with the AI coming out, I\u2019m like, \u2018Man, he\u2019s gotta be the voice of A.I. He\u2019s gotta be the voice in something.\u2019 So yeah, I would love to do that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tCultural figures have been resurrected using AI with the permission of their estate. Netflix\u2019s The Andy Warhol Diaries recreated the artist\u2019s voice using the technology, while something similar was done with Val Kilmer on Top Gun: Maverick. <\/p>\n

\n\tIt is not without controversy, however. Scarlett Johansson said she was \u201cshocked\u201d that OpenAI used an imitation of her voice despite her declining to be part of the project months earlier.
