The man and woman told police they were sitting at the bus stop when an unknown man walked up to them armed with a gun, demanding money. <\/p>\n
When the victims gave the suspect the money they had, he reportedly forced the woman into a nearby parking lot and sexually assaulted her. <\/p>\n
After the man called 911, the suspect reportedly fled the area down McDowell Road before police arrived. <\/p>\n
Police said surveillance footage from businesses in the area shows the suspect talking to the victims and the woman being assaulted. Detectives pulled that video, as well as other video that shows the suspect\u2019s movements after he ran away. <\/p>\n
Investigators said they connected video from a nearby Circle K showing a man matching the suspect description to Kenneth Calvin Smith II. <\/p>\n

The man later identified Smith as the suspect out of a photo lineup, police said, and investigators recovered DNA evidence after the woman received a sexual assault exam. <\/p>\n
Officers found Smith at his Phoenix home near the reported crime scene, and he was arrested on Aug. 8. Smith reportedly told police he was not in the area at the time of the attack. <\/p>\n
Smith has been booked on two counts of armed robbery, two counts of sexual assault, one count of kidnapping and two counts of aggravated assault. <\/p>\n
