In a Facebook post<\/a>, Manor Township police say that Cotton was taken into custody in New York City on Tuesday for an alleged firearms offense and is currently being held at Rikers Island. <\/p>\nPolice say that arrangements are underway for Cotton to be extradited to Manor Township where he will face charges related to the deadly crash that resulted in the death of 20-year-old Saige Zink. <\/p>\n
Deadly crash <\/p>\n
The crash happened in the area of Water Street and Charlestown Road in Washington Borough around 2:25 a.m. on July 30 and involved a BMW SUV and a blue Chrysler sedan. <\/p>\n
“Video surveillance collected from numerous locations in the surrounding area shows three individuals leaving the area of the crash scene, one of which was a dark-skinned male, bearded, with a white t-shirt and black shorts who was later identified as the defendant, Mikaail Cotton,” the affidavit of probable cause states.<\/p>\n
Investigators also spoke to a witness who said they had contact with the three people around 6 a.m., about two miles from the crash scene.<\/p>\n
“(The witness) stated that they approached him asking to borrow his phone so they could call for a ride back to Lancaster City. (The witness) described these individuals’ appearances as ‘muddy,’ and also noted that the dark-skinned male in the white t-shirt had a money symbol tattooed on his neck (matching Cotton’s description),” the document said.<\/p>\n
Additionally, police said they found an iPhone wedged up against the brake pedal of the blue Chrysler sedan.<\/p>\n
“The background photo on this phone had a picture of Cotton’s daughter on it. An identical picture was found on Cotton’s social media accounts,” the document said.<\/p>\n
Police are still searching for the other two people who left the scene, Helmer Soto-Colon and Savahnnah McFerrin. <\/p>\n
