Doster, 27, of the 1500 block of North Brown Street with rape, sexual assault, false imprisonment and related offenses.

According to the criminal complaint filed by Detective Amanda Shephard:

The 26-year-old victim had been out with Doster and friends in Philadelphia on Thursday evening.

<img loading="lazy" decoding="async" class="lazyautosizes lazyload" alt="Niquan E. Doster (COURTESY PHOTO)

About 3 a.m., Doster drove everyone home in the victim’s vehicle and asked to stay at her Golf Road home for the night so he would not have to travel back to the city.

The victim said Doster carried her bag, which contained her mobile phone, into the residence.

The victim told Doster he could sleep in her daughter’s room, but he said he would not be sleeping there. She had a bad feeling about his comment, so she went into her bedroom, locking the bedroom door and placing a bed against the door for protection.

After 20 minutes, Doster found a way to unlock the door and forced his way into the bedroom, pushing the bed away from the door, the victim told police.

He held her down, and sexually assaulted her. He also told her not to tell anyone about what had happened.

In the morning, the victim was assaulted a second time. Afterward, she left the home and went to a friend’s house and told her what had happened. Her mother was contacted, and police were notified.

The victim returned home with police officers and Doster was still there. He was taken into custody without further incident. The victim was taken to Lankenau Medical Center.

During the investigation, police observed damage to the bedroom doorknob and found the king-sized bed in close proximity to the bedroom door consistent with being pushed away from the door.

“This was a despicable, cowardly, and vile attack. The suspect violated the victim’s safety, trust, and basic right to be safe in her own home,” said Upper Darby Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt. “His actions were downright appalling and disturbing to say the least. He’s going to be held accountable for his despicable actions.”

Bernhardt said the police department has provided the victim with the support and services needed to begin dealing with the trauma.

Doster was arraigned before District Judge George B. Dawson, who set bail at 10 percent of $150,000.

Doster did not post bail and was taken to Delaware County prison to await a scheduled Aug. 19 preliminary hearing in front of District Judge Elysia Mancini Duerr.

A Philadelphia man is behind bars after allegedly sexually assaulting an Upper Darby woman.
