<\/p>\nPolice in Hopkins, Minnesota, say three people were found dead inside a residential daycare Wednesday morning. Preliminarily, they believe a man took his own life after killing a woman and child.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to a reported stabbing at the home on the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North around 9 a.m., the Hopkins Police Department said. Police say there were seven children at the daycare at the time, and it’s unclear if the deceased child is part of that count.<\/p>\n
All of the children have been reunified with their parents and were unharmed, according to police. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The department called the incident a “domestic-related homicide” and said “there are no outstanding suspects and no ongoing threat to the public.”<\/p>\n
Police plan to share more information at a 4 p.m. news conference.<\/p>\n
“This is an extremely tragic event for our community,” the department said. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by this devastating incident.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey<\/a>\u00a0acknowledged at the start of his 2027 budget address Wednesday morning that a “critical incident” had occurred in Hopkins.<\/p>\n “I know that our hearts and our prayers are with the people of Hopkins and any families that have been impacted,” Frey said. “I have already touched base directly with Mayor Hanlon, offered any assistance that we possibly can provide.”<\/p>\n Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty said her office is “working with Hopkins Police as they investigate” and the “victim services division is prepared to support the individuals impacted by this incident.”\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n Hopkins is about 10 miles southwest of Minneapolis.
