HOPKINS, Minn. (FOX 9)<\/strong> – Two people and one child were found dead in an incident at an in-home daycare in Hopkins, Minnesota<\/a> Wednesday morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Hopkins police say a man, woman and juvenile were found dead after officers responded to a domestic situation at an in-home daycare. Police Chief Brent Johnson said the victims appear to be members of one family and investigators preliminarily believe the deceased man was the perpetrator and took his own life.<\/p>\n

What we know:<\/p>\n

Hopkins Police Chief Brent Johnson said officers responded to a report of a stabbing shortly after 9 a.m. at Brown Bear Daycare on the 200 block of Tyler Avenue North. Upon arrival, police found a man, woman and child dead in the home.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There were six other children present in the daycare at the time of the incident. Johnson said no other children were harmed. Officers were able to get all the children out of the home and reunite them with their families.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Brown Bear Daycare in Hopkins was the site of a deadly stabbing Wednesday morning.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

Johnson said the victims appear to be members of one family. He said investigators preliminarily believe the deceased man was the perpetrator and took his own life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Johnson said this was an isolated incident. There is no threat to the public at this time.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There’s a large police presence at a home day care in Hopkins, Minnesota, on Wednesday. An officer blocking the scene told FOX 9 reporter Corin Hoggard that the scene is “very volatile.” It appears police are trying to reunify families with children at the daycare.\u00a0<\/p>\n

What we know:<\/p>\n

Johnson said a parent who arrived to drop off their children was the one to call police. Police believe the parent witnessed the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“There’s no worse scenario than this, where you drop off your child to somewhere you think is safe, and you get that phone call,” the police chief said. “I think we can all relate, [those] who have children and those who don’t. This is just a tragic situation anywhere in the world, let alone here in Hopkins.”\u00a0<\/p>\n

Police have blocked off Tyler Street between 2nd Street and Lake Street as the investigation is underway.<\/p>\n

There is now a crime scene investigation vehicle at the scene. There were also multiple police agencies and an ambulance at the scene.<\/p>\n

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey is delivering a budget address on Wednesday, but started his speech reacting to the news that two adults and a child were found dead inside a Hopkins daycare. Frey says the city will provide any support and resources needed to the city.<\/p>\n

What they’re saying:<\/p>\n

Hennepin County Attorney Mary Moriarty released a statement regarding the Hopkins in-home daycare incident:\u00a0<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re aware of this morning\u2019s tragic and devastating incident in Hopkins and are working with Hopkins Police as they investigate. Our office\u2019s victim services division is prepared to support the individuals impacted by this incident. We will provide further updates when available.”<\/p>\n

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey addressed the tragedy ahead of his budget address Wednesday morning:\u00a0<\/p>\n

“I know that our hearts and our prayers are with the people of Hopkins and any families that have been impacted. I have already touched base directly with Hanlon and offer any assistance we can provide. The City of Minneapolis stands with Hopkins. We are not strangers to crisis, and when it takes place, we work together. That\u2019s exactly what we\u2019ll be doing here,” Frey said.<\/p>\n

Frey said the City of Minneapolis will provide any assistance and resources that Hopkins needs.<\/p>\n

U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar joined FOX 9\u2019s All Day to give her perspective on the Hopkins incident.<\/p>\n

“Your heart, you just think about these little kids in the daycare. Our daughter went to daycare for a while. You think about dropping your child off, and then thinking about them in this scene of incredible violence and tragedy. You think about the relatives of this family, what they\u2019ve lost with a little child, a mom and what these kids witnessed. No matter who old they are, it\u2019s going to be with them forever.<\/p>\n

“The other piece of this as a former prosecutor, and we did a lot on domestic violence, what are the signs ahead going into this? What\u2019s the past with this man in apparently what is a situation where he violently attacked his own wife and child. Those kinds of situations with domestic violence we\u2019ve tragically seen before. This was the ultimate tragedy.”<\/p>\n
