Photo by Renee Umsted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bath House Cultural Center is preparing for the end of summer with two events beginning Saturday, Aug. 15.<\/p>\n<p>The first event is a poetry workshop with Alex Tha Great. A spoken-word artist, playwright and activist, Alex Tha Great will host two sessions for beginner and intermediate poets interested in fine-tuning their writing skills and authorial voice.<\/p>\n<p>The beginner session will take place from 11 a.m. to noon, followed by the intermediate session from 1 to 2 p.m. Both workshops will take place in the classroom at the Bath House Cultural Center.<\/p>\n<p>The workshops are limited to 15 participants and are open to adults 18 and older. The event is free to attend, but <a href=\"https:\/\/form.jotform.com\/262165364193156\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">registration is required<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Saturday, the Bath House Cultural Center will present \u201cLa Guitarrizma!,\u201d an exhibition celebrating guitars, guitarists and the cultural world of stringed instruments.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures and mixed-media pieces inspired by the guitar. While the guitar is the central theme, many of the works will also honor the people who bring the instrument to life.<\/p>\n<p>Featured guitarists will include local musicians such as Chris Casta\u00f1eda, Long Black Car and Stephen Hout.<\/p>\n<p>Internationally celebrated artists including Jimi Hendrix, Lita Ford, Prince and Lead Belly will also be highlighted. Dallas native Stevie Ray Vaughan will be celebrated as well.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition\u2019s lead artist, Jose Vargas, will be joined by other artists from across North Texas, Waco and San Antonio.<\/p>\n<p>Guests are invited to attend a reception with the artists Saturday, Aug. 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. The Bnois King Band will also provide music during the reception.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa Guitarrizma!\u201d will remain on display through Sept. 26.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Bath House Cultural Center.
