The Perseid meteor shower<\/a> will peak overnight on Wednesday into Thursday morning. <\/p>\n

But there will be scattered clouds that could obscure viewing at times in Northern California, according to our weather team. Conditions should be better to catch the Perseids on Thursday night. <\/p>\n

The Perseid is considered the best meteor shower to watch. The peak time to watch is before dawn. <\/p>\n

For those unsure where to go, several local stargazing spots are recommended. <\/p>\n

The Community Observatory in Placerville will be open from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Admission is free, but parking costs $2. <\/p>\n

Other suggested locations include the parking lot for the El Dorado Trail just outside Placerville, Ice House Observation off Ice House Road near Highway 50 in El Dorado County, and the vista points along Highway 20 between Nevada City and the I-80\/20 interchange. <\/p>\n

Stargazers can also find their own spot by checking out a light pollution map.<\/p>\n
